Еconomic theory or political economy?

Abstract

Тhe article considers the evolution of the names of economic science "political economy," "economics," "economic theory," which have successively replaced each other at various stages of its development. The prerequisites for the appearance of one or another name are justified, conceptual features of economic science corresponding to its different names are revealed, the reasons for their change are shown. It is proved that evolution of the terms "economy", "political economy", "economics", "the economic theory" is objectively caused by development of the most economic science and an object of her research an economic system. It is shown that in the modern world, economic science functions under different of these names and in each case has its own aspect of research and presentation, while remaining a single science that studies economic phenomena and processes at different stages of the development of human society. The possible and not completely exhausted potential of political economy to solve the problems facing modern Russia is revealed.
